Everest Base Camp

Action Against Hunger is is a global humanitarian organisation that takes decisive action against the causes and effects of hunger. For almost 40 years, across nearly 50 countries, they have led the global fight against hunger, saving the lives of children & their families, and working with communities before & after disaster strikes. They ensure everyone can access clean water, food, training and healthcare, whilst enabling people to provide for themselves, see their children grow up strong, and build prosperous communities. They are constantly searching for more effective solutions and pushing for long-term change. The money raised by students taking part in a challenge goes towards: lifesaving nutritional treatment; livelihood programmes including agricultural and nutritional education and the provision of cash loans to ensure long-term food security in communities; and water, sanitation and hygiene programmes to ensure access to clean water and break a cycle of ill-health.

The Everest Base Camp trek is probably one of the most famous in the world, and one that every keen trekker should consider doing at some point in their lives. It is without doubt one of the more challenging treks to take on, but the sheer thrill and sense of achievement you experience as you arrive at the Base Camp is hard to equal. Your journey to the Everest Base Camp begins in Kathmandu, Nepal’s vibrant capital and takes you via a twin-engine plane to Lukla, the gateway to the Khumbu region. From here you will continue on your trek into the heart of the Nepali Himalaya, taking in some spectacular scenery along the way. The main highlight on your journey to Everest Base Camp will be the majestic snow-capped peaks that line the steep sided valleys, and the jaw-dropping views that await you at almost every turn. Few feelings can compare to looking up in awe at the world’s highest peak.
